When an employer advertises a job they might get up to 100 applications, sometimes more. You need to make sure you stand out so that the employer wants to keep reading about you -
• Make sure your CV is up to date with your most recent experience first
• Tailor your CV to the role that you are applying for
• Have a personal profile that is relevant to the role that you are applying for – talk about relevant experience & qualifications that employers are looking for
• Use the same font & size throughout your CV
• Ask someone to check your CV for spelling & grammar

• Friends & family – tell them you are looking, they might know of a job coming up where they work
• LinkedIn – lots of companies put on that they are recruiting, but don’t advertise anywhere else
• Company websites – many employers chose to only advertise vacancies on the careers section of their website to save on recruitment costs
• Speculative applications – is there a particular company that you want to work for? Go on their website and send your CV & cover letter to their info@ address and ask them to contact you if they are hiring – tell them why you want to work there!
