Introduction-

We are delivering the following qualifications to anyone aged 19+ as distance learning. They are all Level 2 short courses designed to raise awareness and confidence in each subject area, and fully funded through our Adult Education Budget. These are fantastic qualifications that could help to support colleagues, children, friends, family and people within your community during this extremely emotional and challenging time.

What we do

LGBT Inclusion – Level 2 


The aims of the qualification are -

•    To encourage inclusivity and promote positive interaction with people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender 
•    Raise awareness and provide the opportunity to develop knowledge to gain understanding of the history and culture of the            LGBT movement 
•    Gain insight into how to have comfortable interactions and raise awareness of the impact and assumptions for LGBT people in        the workplace 
•    Identify and challenge inappropriate behaviour in the workplace and organisational policies to safeguard employees

 

The following units make up the qualification – 

•    Lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans history & culture
•    Language, stereotyping and assumptions relating to gay, bisexual and trans people 
•    Organisational policies and legislation affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people in the workplace 
•    Contribute to maintaining a supportive workplace environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people

Mental Health Awareness – Level 2 

 

The aims of this qualification are – 

•    To gain an understanding of mental health 
•    Develop an understanding of the topic in relation to symptoms, experience for the individual and their support needs 
•    How disorders can be treated and managed 
•    Understanding the roles and needs of family & friends

Understanding Children & Young People’s Mental Health Level 2 – 
 

The aims of this qualification are – 

•    Understand children & young people’s mental health in context 
•    Understand mental health problems commonly associated with children & young people 
•    Understand the impact of mental ill-health on children & young people 
•    Gain knowledge of the support available to maintain mental wellbeing in young people

•    Understand how to support children & young people with mental health concerns

Understanding Mental Health First Aid and Mental Health Advocacy in the Workplace Level 2-


The aims of this qualification are – 

•    To deliver the courses with an openness that creates a safe environment to de-stigmatise, humanise and simplify our perceptions of mental health 
•    To develop our understanding and strength, enabling us to be ready when we approach or are approached by someone in a crisis

Understanding Common Childhood Illnesses Level 2-

 

The aims of this qualification are –

•    The purpose of this qualification is to increase learners’ knowledge and understanding of common childhood illnesses

•    To enable them to support the development and wellbeing of infants and children they support/care for

•    Understand how to provide a safe and healthy environment for babies and young children

•    Understand common childhood illnesses

•    Understand health emergencies and specific health conditions in an early years setting

Delivery Model – 

•    Delivered over 6/8 weeks (depending on how much time can be dedicated to completing the qualification) 
•    X2 2 hour virtual classroom sessions with your fully qualified & experienced Skills Tutor via Teams (duration of the virtual classroom sessions is flexible)

Award in Ways to Maintain Personal Well-being – Level 1
 

There are 2 aims in this qualifications are – 
 
Introduction to Personal Well-being:
•    Understand the principles of personal well-being
•    Understand the principles of mental well-being 
•    Understand the principles of healthy eating
 
Principles of Maintaining Personal Well-being:
•    Understand the need to make connections with others
•  
 Understand the need to be physically active
•    Understand mindfulness and meditation
•    Understand the need for continual learning 
•    Understand the need for providing generosity and support to others

This qualification could lead into further learning, at Level 2 in: LGBT, Mental Health Awareness Level 2, Understanding Children & Young People’s Mental Health.
 

You can complete as many qualifications as you like.

Understanding The Care & Management of Diabetes

The aims of this qualification are – 


•    Provide you with an understanding of the different types of diabetes and how they can occur
•    Develop your awareness of how the onset of Type 2 diabetes can be delayed with lifestyle changes 
•    Develop your understanding of diabetes diagnosis and initial care 
•    Develop your understanding of on-going care and treatment of diabetes to control blood sugar levels.

 

The following units make up this qualification -
•    Understand diabetes
•    Prevention and early intervention of Type 2 diabetes
•    Understand the initial care of diabetes
•    Understand the treatment and management of diabetes

•    The purpose of this qualification is to increase the learner’s knowledge and awareness of the Prevent Duty and safeguarding, including online safety.
•    By completing this qualification, learners will develop knowledge of safeguarding in an environment where they have a duty of care

Understanding Nutrition & Health – 


The aims of this qualification are – 


•    Provides learners with a range of underpinning knowledge in areas such as healthy eating, nutritional needs, weight management, eating disorders and food safety in the home environment. 
•    The qualification supports the Government drive to empower individuals to make healthy choices, a key focus of which is the need to educate and change behaviour on diet and nutrition to reduce the prevalence of obesity

 

The following units make up this qualification – 
•    Explore principles of healthy eating 
•    Consider the nutritional needs of a variety of individuals
•    Use food and nutrition information to plan a healthy diet 
•    The principles of Weight Management
•    Understanding eating disorders

The aims of this qualification are –

Eligibility criteria – 


•    Learners must be aged 19+
•    Not on another Government funded training programme, i.e. an Apprenticeship
•    Learners must not live in a ‘devolved postcode area’ – postcodes include London,Manchester, Rochdale, Oldham, Tameside, Stockport, Bolton, Bury, Wigan, (if you are unsure if someone is eligible for the funding please contact me with their postcode and we will check for you) 
•    Courses are available to anyone - staff, volunteers, parents of students at your school, friends and family.
