Job Summary

The role of the IQA Lead is crucial in developing the ethos of achievement within the Curriculum Area, in harmony with the aims and ethos of the whole company.

The IQA Lead is key to the success and development of the company, and the raising of learner achievement. The IQA Lead must ensure that targets for improvement in the Curriculum Area are set and met, through positive approaches to Curriculum development, the planning and preparation of schemes of work, the monitoring of learning and teaching across the Curriculum Area and the support and development of staff. The IQA Lead forms a vital part of the middle leadership team. They need to have a good knowledge of educational issues and are expected to keep up to date with, lead on and work in conjunction with the Head of Curriculum on improving pedagogy and practice where it is relevant to the Curriculum Area.

 

Key Accountabilities:

Main Tasks

  • Promote the development of the Curriculum Area.
  • Be first point of contract for Skills Tutors with any curriculum issues.
  • Ensure that learning is the core purpose of the Curriculum Area.
  • Foster high achievement and excellence within the Curriculum Area ensuring that learners are encouraged and supported to aspire beyond their personal best.
  • Support the professional and personal development of staff.
  • To ensure the quality of assessment, robust quality assurance in line with awarding body standards.
  • Ensure that all publicity material is up to, accurate and relevant.
  • Lead on curriculum area for self-assessment and Ofsted.
  • Identify and lead on new programme delivery for your Curriculum Area.

 

Responsibilities in relation to staff are to:

  • Monitor the effectiveness of, and have oversight for, the work of members of the Curriculum Area including Standardisation of the Curriculum Area.
  • Ensure opportunities are provided for the professional development of staff, ensuring that they are up-to-date with developments in the subject Area in order to improve the quality of learning and teaching.
  • Ensure Observation of Teaching and Learning are carried out in line with EIF.
  • Support the performance management of staff.
  • Supervise the work of Newly Qualified Skills Tutors and Trainee Skills Tutors within the Curriculum Area.
  • Ensure that staff support and uphold the companyies aims and policies.
  • Ensure learner reviews are carried out timely, productive and all three parties are involved. (Employer, Learner and Skills Tutor).

 

Responsibilities in relation to learners are to:

  • Have oversight of the learning of all students within the Curriculum Area working with the Head of Quality.
  • Ensure that staff within the Curriculum Area create an ethos in which learners feel safe and learn effectively.
  • Ensure that proper assessment procedures are set up in line with the company’s policies and monitor the quality of those assessment procedures.
  • Ensure that structures are developed to deal with underachievement, poor behaviour and attendance where this affects learning, in line with the company’s policies.
  • Liaise and guide support staff as appropriate to ensure the needs of learners are met ensuring CognAssist is used effectively.
  • Liaise with the External Quality Assurance staff to ensure all aspects of internal and external exams/assessments are managed effectively.

 

Responsibilities in relation to the Curriculum are to:

  • Ensure that suitable schemes of work are planned and prepared and take account of internal and external developments and requirements as well as the companyies policies and aims so that the Curriculum is effectively delivered to learners of all abilities.
  • Monitor and evaluate schemes of work and update as appropriate.
  • Oversee the use of baseline data within the Curriculum Area, in conjunction with the Head of Quality responsible for Assessment, Reporting and Recording.
  • Ensure that all publicity material is up to date, accurate and relevant.
  • To lead on the digitising of the curriculum.
  • Support and actively contribute to the SAR and QIP.
  • Lead on EQA visits and liaise with Awarding Organisation.

 

Key Performance Measures:

  1. Scheme of Work which is up to date and relevant to the Curriculum being delivered.
  2. To ensure 90% of staff are delivering ‘good‘ teaching sessions.
  3. To ensure all EQA Visits result in DSC.
  4. Positively supporting Woodspeen Training’s continuous improvement cycle, engaging with training as required and contributing SAR and QIP progress updates.
  5. Achievement rates in line with KPI set. Compliance To comply with all Woodspeen Training's policies and procedures.
  6. To comply with the ESFA, AEB, Traineeship and Advanced Learning Loans funding rules.
